Wedding Bells Are In The Air

Hi Everyone!

Sorry I haven't been over to visit recently...It's because I've been busy with wedding stuff. My brother-in-law, Ivan and his fiancée, Rebecca are finally tying the knot, yay!

And I have volunteered to help...

They're having a small celebration and it's all happening at the end of August. So, as you can see there is not much time. Sadly, this means I'll have to postpone my giveaway a few weeks...There is so much I have planned that I just need some time...I do hope you guys don't mind. I promise that as soon as I can I will be over to visit, post again and have my giveaway to celebrate my blog's 300 followers. Oh, and by the way, a very special thank you goes out to Kim from Spindle Cottage who was my 300th Sweet Follower...Yay! Thank you Kim. And thank you to all of you who have been sweet and kind enough to follow as well. I'm thankful for all the wonderful friends I have made through my blog and I will forever treasure your friendships.

Stationery Basket

Do you remember this little stationery basket? It's a thrift store find from a while back that I said I would makeover.

Originally I was going to embellish it a bit and use it for what it was intended, but I really didn't need another stationery organizer so I decided to repurpose it instead.

Here it is all gussied up.

I just added this pretty little embellishment...not sure what it is or what it was a part of but I thought it would look perfect on the basket. It was a little gift from my cousin Irma...She knows I love these kinds of things.

Well, after a long time of trying to figure out how to repurpose it, this is what I came up with.

It's a paper plate and napkin holder.

Sometimes I just don't feel like washing dishes so the paper plates are a necessity...I know, I know, I'm bad :-) So now I have a tres chic place to put them in and keep them handy. What do you think, good idea or bad?

A Petite Cloche

It's a Cloche Party!

This little vignette can be found on top of the bookcase I worked on a couple of months ago. (see here)

My little cloche was a thrift store find and I have decided to display a simple ball of twine inside of it...I just thought it looked very pretty. Oh, and the 2 hanging from the top of it is one of the old numbers from our petite cottage address which were replaced a few years back ...I tell you, I save everything...I knew that eventually I'd repurpose or reuse them somehow.

By the way, these pictures were taken by my daughter...It's such a dark space I just couldn't get the right pictures. But I knew that my very talented daughter would make them look gorgeous.

For those of you who are gracious enough to follow me on a regular bases, this is where I decided to place the bookcase I worked on a few months back. So what do you think?

I Just Couldn't Pass It Up.

Honest, I have been trying really, really hard to be good and not spend any money, but.....

I just couldn't pass up this adorable, little, white tea set that I found at the thrift store.

Just look at it...Isn't it the sweetest?

And the detail...look at the detail.

Stool-tastic Makeover!

Hey everyone, I finished another project. Yay!!

I've had this plain old stool for a while now, it was a hand-me-down from my mother-in-law. Unfortunately it was just a little too tall for my kitchen counter so I asked my honey if he could saw off a bit of the legs so that I could get to working on it. By the way, this was one of those projects I had him work on last weekend...

Some sanding, a few coats of paint and some antique glaze later se fini.

I created the design on my photoshop program. Love that program!

I think it turned out simply stool-tastic! Hope you think so too.

A Petite Cottage Etsy Shop

Hey Everyone...

One of the featured items that is on sale is an adorable cloth doll couple that has been in my personal collection for over 5 years now. It has been difficult letting go of many of my cloth dolls, but I know that the time has come for me to allow them to bring others the same joy they have brought me since first creating them.

If it's ok with you, I'd like to reminisce a little about the creation process that went into these two sweethearts.

(Each of my dolls is hand signed and dated.)

When I create cloth dolls, I always have an idea in mind, but they always seem to take on a life of their own. For this adorable couple, I knew that I wanted dolls with a vintage feel, hence the use of fabrics with soft and weathered colors.

There is an incredible amount of detail that goes into each one of my dolls. At first glance, they seem very simple, but a closer look reveals my love for dollmaking.

Here is a closeup of the bodice. I added some lace to embellish and add more dimension to an otherwise simple dress.

Here's a close up of the shoes and socks worn by the boy doll. These were also hand-made. The laces on the shoes are actually embroidery floss. It was just the right thickness to give them the finish look I was striving for.

And last, but certainly not least, below are close-ups of their adorable little faces.

Staircase, Check!

Hello dear blogging friends!

I do hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I'm blessed to say that mine's was full of family, fun, good food and a bit of productivity... Productivity, you ask? Well you see, since this was a three day weekend for my hubby I thought I would beg ask if he would work on some pending house projects. I'm excited to say that now I'll be able to check a few more items off that infamous list of things to do, yay!!! Here is one of the projects we worked on....

Do you remember my stairs? Below is a before picture...

And do you remember I wanted to stencil something on the risers and finish the sides with trim?

Well, here they are! What do you think? Oh, and did you see? I repainted the walls too but, I did that a while back. I just needed the trim done by my hubby to consider this project completed!

I did the numbers a while back too. Didn't end up stenciling them though. I used my cool Cricut machine to cut out some vinyl numbers instead. I think they look awesome.

I'm still finishing off the other projects...Hubby nails, cuts, hammers, saws and builds, but the painting, finishing touches and decorating are my job...So as soon as the other projects are done I will share with you. Be sure to check back to see them. Until then my friends.
